I am wondering why the hell this is such an unusual approach for most people.įor me its the best of both worlds, the direct emotion, spontanity of a life Mix captured, but multitracked with the option to do fine edits. I am in the same boat and searching for an solution. The differences really come down to capturing the performance of a mix vs capturing a performance, to be mixed later. The mix is part of the jam, not a separate step to be applied after the fact. Jam live-ish with various machines into board, apply level balances, eq, fx, dub mix (ie, perform the mix live), record direct outs post everything as multitracks for further fine tuning if necessary. Personally I know exactly why you're asking, as I do the same thing myself. Why is that such a novel concept for a mixer? They are compatible with x84 and 圆4 versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Proper Windows 8 drivers are on their way. I don't want to record the unprocessed tracks into a DAW and then sit with a mouse and draw automaton curves. Updated Windows Drivers These arent completely Windows 8 compatible at the moment, but they will run under compatibility mode. I want to record one take live jams and have all my movements captured multitracked. JosefK wrote:Everyone keeps telling me this. There may be a better way to do it, but I don't know it.
Phonic has become a leading manufacturer of professional audio. That probably didn't answer your question, but that is how I do it, and its the only way I've found to use the EQ's during mixdown. The Phonic Helix Board 18 MKII Combines the ease of a analog mixer with a firewire audio.
I have that channel soloed and not assigned to any groups or master faders on the console. Now the PT master fader plays back coming in Analog 23&24 on the Midas. So I switched the I/O inside PT so that Analog 1&2 in PT is assigned to Analog 23&24 on the Midas and Analog 23&24 in PT is assigned to Analog 1&2 on the Midas. Since I use plug-ins on the master fader, like my SSL Comp, I want to monitor audio coming off the master fader inside Pro Tools, not from the master fader on the F24. So in Pro Tools all my tracks are outputing to the F24 except the Aux In from 23-24 which is sending the summed audio to my master fader. Phonic Corporation Helix Board 18 FireWire MKII. In Pro Tools I set an Aux In for 23-24 and assign that to the master fader in Pro Tools. Pro Audio Products - CONNECT with brands and businesses in professional audio and related industries. Hence, all tracks of my mix I delegate to the 24 tracks, those I send to the groups in stereo, groups go to master fader, master to 23-24 firewire override is active. The best way I've figured to use the EQ's is to also use the analog summing of the board. I've had mine for a little over 3 months.
